"Article to Audio: Local Version" ("the Extension") is designed with privacy as a priority. This privacy policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it is stored, and how it is used.

Important: All data processed by the Extension is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to the Extension developers or any third parties except OpenAI (for API processing only).

Information We Access

The Extension accesses the following types of information:

• Website Content: When you explicitly click the "Save This Article" button, the Extension extracts and saves the text content of the current webpage.
• Authentication Information: Your OpenAI API key, which you provide in the Extension settings.

We do not collect: Personal information, health information, financial information, personal communications, location data, web browsing history, or user activity.

How Information is Stored

All information accessed by the Extension is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage:

• Extracted article content is stored locally in your browser.
• Your OpenAI API key is stored securely in your browser's local storage.
• Voice settings and preferences are stored locally.
• Generated audio files are stored locally in your browser.

The Extension developers do not have access to any of this information, and it is not transmitted to any servers owned or operated by the Extension developers.

How Information is Used

The information accessed by the Extension is used solely to provide the core functionality of the Extension:

• Website content is used to create text-to-audio conversions.
• Your OpenAI API key is used solely to authenticate with OpenAI's services when you request text processing or audio generation.

Third-Party Services

The Extension uses OpenAI's API services for text processing and audio generation. When you use these features:

• Your OpenAI API key and article content are sent to OpenAI's servers for processing.
• This transmission is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
• The Extension does not share your data with any other third parties.

User Control Over Data

You have complete control over all data stored by the Extension:

• You can delete saved articles through the Extension's interface.
• You can reset or remove your API key through the Extension's settings.
• You can clear all Extension data by clearing your browser's storage for the Extension.
• Uninstalling the Extension will remove all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or store personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
